Advertising Guidelines

i-Need only allows Wanted adverts. This means your advert must clearly describe what you are looking for, not what you are selling. The aim is to help genuine buyers, employers, and seekers connect with the right people quickly and safely.

1. Start Every Title with "Wanted"

Your title is the first thing people see. Start with the word Wanted and then describe exactly what you need.

  • Correct format: Wanted: [Item, Service, Staff Role, Farm Type, Property, or Equipment]
  • Good examples: "Wanted: Toyota Hilux 2.8 GD-6 in Gauteng", "Wanted: Experienced Diesel Mechanic in Bloemfontein", "Wanted: Maize Farm to Lease in Free State"
  • Avoid: Vague titles such as "Need help", "Looking", "Urgent", or titles written in all caps.

2. Write a Clear and Specific Description

A good description saves time and attracts relevant responses. Include the details that matter for your request.

  • State exactly what you want.
  • Add key specifications, quantity, and condition requirements.
  • Include your preferred location in South Africa and whether nearby areas are acceptable.
  • Mention your budget range when possible to avoid unrealistic offers.
  • Set response expectations, for example "Please include photos, price, and availability".

3. Product Wanted Adverts: What to Include

  • Type and brand: Example: laptop, bakkie, generator, tractor implement.
  • Model and year range: Helps suppliers respond accurately.
  • Condition: New, demo, used, refurbished, or specific wear limits.
  • Required features: Engine size, storage capacity, mileage limit, power rating, etc.
  • Location and collection: Collection only, delivery needed, or willing to travel.

4. Staff Wanted Adverts: What to Include

  • Job title: Example: "Wanted: Qualified Electrician".
  • Work location: Town/city and province.
  • Employment type: Full-time, part-time, contract, seasonal, or temporary.
  • Minimum requirements: Experience, qualifications, certificates, licences, language needs.
  • Core duties: Short practical list of daily responsibilities.
  • Salary or rate: Provide a range where possible.
  • Application method: What candidates must send and by when.

5. Farm or Property Wanted Adverts: What to Include

  • Type: Farm to buy, farm to lease, grazing land, smallholding, warehouse, or workshop space.
  • Size requirements: Hectares, square meters, water access, or infrastructure needs.
  • Use case: Livestock, crop production, mixed farming, accommodation, storage, etc.
  • Preferred area: Province, district, and distance from major routes or towns.
  • Budget and timeline: Expected monthly lease or purchase range, and target start date.

6. Add Relevant Images to Improve Responses

Images should support your request and make it easier for others to understand what you need.

  • Use photos that represent the product type, style, condition target, or quality level you want.
  • For jobs, add neutral workplace-related images (for example tools, office, workshop, or farm context).
  • For farms or property requests, add maps, area references, or example property-type photos.
  • Keep images clear, well-lit, and relevant. Avoid misleading or unrelated pictures.

7. How to Source Images from the Internet Properly

If you use internet images, make sure you have the right to use them.

  • Prefer your own photos first.
  • Use reputable free stock libraries or images marked for reuse under the correct licence terms.
  • Read the licence conditions before uploading. Some images require attribution.
  • Do not use copyrighted images taken from random websites, social media pages, or competitor adverts without permission.
  • Do not use logos, brand artwork, or photos that can mislead users into thinking you represent another company unless you are authorised.

8. Keep Your Advert Honest and Safe

  • Do not post false requirements, fake budgets, or misleading urgency.
  • Do not request deposits, admin fees, or upfront payments from applicants or responders unless lawful and clearly justified.
  • Never ask people to share one-time PINs, banking passwords, or sensitive personal details.
  • Use the platform responsibly and report suspicious responses to support.

9. Quick Checklist Before You Publish

  • Title starts with Wanted.
  • Description clearly explains what you need.
  • Location, budget, and timeline are included where relevant.
  • Images are relevant and legally usable.
  • Contact instructions are clear and professional.

10. Suggested Title Templates

  • Wanted: [Product + Model] in [City/Province]
  • Wanted: [Job Role] - [Employment Type] - [Location]
  • Wanted: [Farm/Property Type] to [Buy/Lease] in [Region]

Well-written Wanted adverts receive better quality responses, reduce spam, and help you connect faster with the right sellers, candidates, and service providers.
